Live and kickin’!

Hold the Line is our flagship game where you take control of the occulus as they desperately try and survive against hordes of bloodthirsty aliens. the chompers who were Originally created by the occulus to clean up their trash now want nothing more than to eat you and steal your tech.

You will travel the galaxy collecting resources and expanding humanity’s knowledge of how best to eliminate our unwanted guests in this real-time grid-based strategy game.

The question is: do you have the stomach to hold the line or will you fall trying?

Filling you in

So we thought it was time to start letting you all know a little bit about what’s going on here at Lost Games.

Hold the line is the brain child of Ross, who’s been working on the game for the past year on and off, though only recently has the project been kicked into overdrive. Ross has spent hours over the past couple of weeks tweaking the games mechanics and sorting out balancing issues. As we are almost ready for in house testing for the feet on the ground part of the game.

This demo will allow the player to take on waves of chompers that will vary in difficulty to test out the real time grid based combat system. Space combat has also started development, working out mechanics and collision detections.

A little update

We feel now is a good time for you all to have an idea where the bulk of your time will be spent in Hold the Line; and that’s boots on the ground trying to defend yourself against waves of chomper’s.

Check out the Video for a good look at the sort of combat that awaits you!

One thing to note is this is an early build of the game and there won’t be a huge influx of air ships attacking you relentlessly in the full release. It does show you all however a little bit about how we test. Seeing what works, what extra animations are needed and what bugs need fixing (as inevitably there are always bugs!)

Gif tastic couple of weeks

Time for a quick update and it’s been a tedious couple of weeks here on Hold the Line. Lots of minor game changes and mechanic tweaks to help make the space section become a more interactive and challenging experience. On top of this we have been improving the animations of all the little things; giving the game that extra level of polish.

As well as this we have redone the games tutorial to help get new players into the action and understanding the games upgrade system. As after all everyone likes dropping bombs and we want to make sure you know how to maximise the arsenal the game has to offer you.

MASSIVE UPDATE!

It’s all been going on this month; Ross has been improving backgrounds, Oculus, Chopper and ship animations, as well as implementing more armoured Chopper units called “Rollers” into the mix. Which as the name says will squish your units and barriers under their wheels.

On top of this we have experimented with including a new enemy faction “The Knowledge” a murder hungry faction of robots reminiscent of the terminators, but in space! We have been coding and figuring how this new force fits into the universe of “Hold the Line”.

TESTING ANYONE?

Testing has been the key word for us here at Lost Games the past couple of weeks. This involves playing the latest build, making notes and tweaking game play ready for mid-October launch. Getting the difficulty right has been the most challenging part of this as we want all players to be able to pick up and play; trying not to scare them off by having a two steeper learning curve.

Also it has been prime time for us to perfect the Knowledge and how they differ from the Chompers mechanically. They will be a tougher foe to overcome and to balance this out we are rewarding the player the chance to win an elite unit if they defeat the Knowledge. We are hoping by laying mechanics we can give a richer game play experience for the player.

Hold the Line, after months of testing and polish, is now out on both Google Play and Apple IOS.  We are very excited to bring you our first major release to mobiles and tablets. It comes rolling out with a full campaign and survival modes and records all your progress via a highscore table.

The game is split into two unique sections, the first is a 2D space shooter where you must blast enemy ships and avoid incoming planets. The other is a lane based real time strategy where you have to micro manage your team of elite troops as you hold back the waves of Chompers and Knowledge Bots. We have already had some great feedback and players getting further than we thought was even possible!

Thank you everyone who’s helped support us and contributed to this project. We hope you all have a sneak peak at Hold the Line.
